Firefighters use rope rescue to save woman after crash

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Columbus firefighters rescued a woman with a low angle rope rescue after her vehicle crashed into an embankment on Monday.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Indianapolis Road and County Road 100 North. Officials say the vehicle went about 100 feet down the embankment before hitting a tree.

Firefighters used a rope system which included a backboard with straps and basket sides to contain the victim.

Once the woman was pulled from the vehicle, she was taken to Columbus Regional Health and treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
