First day of early voting draws large turnout in Marion County

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County Clerk’s Office was a busy place Wednesday as many people took advantage of the first day of early voting.

According to the Clerk’s Office, nearly 1000 people voted Wednesday, which is an increase of more than 200 voters compared to the first day of early voting in 2012 and nearly 300 more voters than 2008.

On average, people waited between five and ten minutes to cast their ballot Wednesday.

The Marion County Clerk’s office is open weekdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekend. Early voting hours will be extended the week before Election Day.
