First weekend of August looks hot and humid with limited storm chances

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Happy Friday, everyone! We’ve made it to the end of another work week and the weather looks fairly nice as we head into the weekend. Today’s Holidays: International Beer Day and National Watermelon Day.

We saw a few stray storms yesterday in northwest Indiana, dropping over 1/2” of rain in Lafayette.

That didn’t do much for the abnormally dry conditions still in place just west-southwest of the Indy Metro, but we’ll have several rain and storm opportunities as we slide through the weekend and into next week.

After a calm start to our Friday, temperatures will rebound quickly into the low 80s by mid-day and the mid to upper 80s in most areas this afternoon.

With the above average temps, we will see a few isolated storms developing as early as 1 p.m. with continued isolated storm opportunities through late this evening before we clear out post-sunset.

With mostly clear skies tonight, expect a nice, cool start to the weekend with lows in the mid to upper 60s in most communities.

If you’re heading out for the opening weekend of the Indiana State Fair, expect a warm one with highs Saturday peaking in the low 90s.

A few stray storms are possible both Saturday and Sunday, though overall rain chances are slim.

Highs both days look to hit 90°+ in many areas.

Better rain and storm chances will move back into central Indiana as we slide into next work week.

With the better storm chances and additional cloud cover, seasonal temperatures will return by the middle of next week.

The best rain chances will slide in Monday to Wednesday of next week with our driest day slated for Thursday of next week. Enjoy the weekend!
