Former Fort Wayne teacher gets probation for child porn
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A former church choir director, principal and teacher who pleaded guilty to having child pornography was sentenced to three years of probation on Monday.
Kenneth Rogner pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in February. His sentencing was originally delayed per the request of his attorney.
In 2012, police found more than 100 movie files and images on Rogner’s digital devices when a warrant was issued to search his home. Rogner resigned from Holy Cross Lutheran that year in August. After his resignation, he “only had controlled access to Holy Cross,” according to a notice posted on the school’s website in 2014.
The investigation first started in December of 2011. A detective with the Internet Crimes Against Children Division found 25 images listed as files of interest in child pornography investigations by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Those images were linked to Rogner’s residence when police subpoenaed Comcast Cable.
According to an affidavit for probable cause, Rogner agreed to be interviewed by police without a lawyer present in 2014. At that time, he told police he had been a teacher at Lutheran Christian Schools for 25 years and had been a school principal for three years. He also said he worked as a full-time choir musician and director at his church.
In the probable cause Rogner told police, “I know why I am here…it’s an addiction I personally have been fighting and I know it’s wrong.”
