Former Riley PTO treasurer charged with theft

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A Terre Haute woman has been charged with felony theft after an eight month long investigation, according to Indiana State Police.

ISP said the woman is accused of missing or misappropriating funds from the Riley Parent Teacher’s Organization.

The case investigation began in August of 2014 when the Riley PTO President informed the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office of possible issues with the Riley PTO bank account. During the investigation, ISP Detectives found probable cause that indicated Tricia Finney, without authorization, withdrew about $10,000 from the PTO account – often for personal use.

Police say the money was withdrawn from July 2012 to June of 2014 while Finney was serving as the treasurer for the Riley PTO.

Tricia Finney, 41 of Terre Haute, is scheduled to make her first court appearance on June 19. She is facing three counts of theft.
