Fundraiser planned to send family, co-workers of Lt. Allan to National Police Week in D.C.

A fundraiser is planned this weekend to help send family, friends and co-workers of fallen Southport Police to National Police Week in Washington D.C. next month.

To get everyone there, Southport Police Chief Thomas Vaughn says they need to raise $40,000.

Lt. Aaron Allan’s name will be added to a memorial for fallen officers. His co-workers will have the chance to attend classes to help them as they continue to cope with his death.

“It’s a nice way to honor him and for his family to be there and it’s kind of that grieving process, it’s getting, it helps you through that,” said Vaughn.

A fundraiser will take place Saturday, April 14, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Indiana State Police Alliance at 1415 Shelby Street in Indianapolis.

The fundraiser is a Monte Carlo Night theme. There will be poker, black jack, roulette, drinks and food. It’s free to get in, but donations are encouraged if you gamble.

If you can’t make it to the fundraiser, you can make donations to the Bartram Memorial Fund by sending checks to the Southport Police Department located at 6901 Derbyshire Rd. Southport, Indiana 46227.
