Gas prices rising due to refinery fires in South

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Gas prices are rising due to refinery fires in the South.

Even before the fires, gasoline prices had been creeping up, not just in California and Texas, but across the country and in Indiana.

Around Evansville, gas on the Henderson, Kentucky, strip was averaging $2.38 a gallon. In Evansville, gas at one station on South Green River Road was $2.59 this week. In Mount Carmel, Illinois, gas at Route 66 was $2.55 a gallon.

Fuel experts said prices could move up another dime.

AAA said the current national average price earlier this week was $2.60 a gallon.
