‘Gr8 Comeback’ visits Paleo Soul for classic soul food with a healthy twist

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our second stop on WISH-TV’s “Gr8 Comeback” tour is Paleo Soul.

The small soul food spot at 7305 E. 96th St. is run by Tanisha Stewart. She explained why their menu is different from other spots around Indianapolis.

“What we do here is provide a healthier approach to things you’ve probably been eating your whole life,” Stewart said. “We combine aspects of the paleo diet to traditional American classics and soul food. For example [our] sweet potatoes have no processed sugars in them. All natural.”

News 8’s Randall Newsome tried a plate with pot roast, macaroni and cheese and cabbage.

Stewart’s recommendations:

For first timers: Pot roast, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and collards.

People on paleo diet: Turkey chop, sweet potatoes and garlic-herb cauliflower.

Paleo Soul’s menu is available via carryout, curbside delivery or Door Dash. You can also call the restaurant directly to order at 317-827-2922.
