Grandfather, granddaughter die after New Castle fire
NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) – A fire in New Castle early Wednesday morning killed two people, officials confirmed.
According to Liberty Township Fire Department Chief Jimmy Raines, the fire started around 1 a.m. at a home on 850 East, just south of State Road 38.
Chief Raines said one person died in the house. The second victim died at the hospital. Their names have not been released, but authorities confirmed the victims are a grandfather, possibly in his 50s, and his young granddaughter, possibly 4 years old.
It’s unclear what started the fire.
