Hamilton County forum arms gun owners with safety information
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – For the second time, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office held a gun safety awareness event.
The number of people applying for firearms licenses is increasing in the county and that was part of the reason for the event.
During the event there was a presentation and several vendors spoke about safety measures with guns.
They talked about everything from how to properly clean and store your firearm to how to properly defend yourself.
“There’s a significant responsibility when it comes to gun ownership and there’s nothing wrong with owning a gun as long as you’re doing so safely and you know the rules of the game so to speak,” Hamilton County Sheriff Mark Bowen said.
The sheriff’s department says there aren’t many accidental discharges, but they are all preventable.
