Hamilton County to pay for damage after tree fell on Courthouse Square

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Hamilton County government is claiming responsibility for a fallen tree that damaged four cars.

The tree fell Thursday night on the northeast corner of the Courthouse Square. Nobody was hurt.

County commissioners said in a news release issued Tuesday that the county will pay to repair or replace the damaged cars. They estimate damages could be close to $100,000.

The tree has been removed.

The release also said the county began cultivating saplings from the tree’s acorns several years ago and plans to plant them on the Courthouse Square to continue the tree’s linage and history.
