Physical activity recommendations for children during COVID-19
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Playgrounds are closed, rec sports suspended and play dates are off limits.
Because of the governor’s stay-at-home order, kids are cooped up inside these days making it difficult for them to be physically active.
On Monday, News 8 medical reporter Dr. Mary Gillis, D.Ed., discussed the critical need for exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for children.
Gillis also provided guidelines from the American College of Sports Medicine regarding the amount of daily physical activity needed for health benefits. She also discussed creative ways children and families can have fun exercising together.
