Heat, humidity & spotty storm chances this holiday weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The “unofficial end of summer” brings in another dose of mid-summer heat & humidity to central Indiana.

Tonight:

Scattered showers and storms that have produced heavy rainfall over southern portions of central Indiana will likely hang around for much of the evening, gradually fading closer to Midnight.

Relatively quiet conditions overnight, with muggy overnight lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Saturday:

Pretty similar day to Friday.  Dry and warm start to the morning, with afternoon clouds, and spotty showers and storms possible in the afternoon and early evening.  Coverage should be rather limited, so most areas should be relatively quiet throughout the day.

Highs top out in the middle to upper 80s.  With higher humidity, feels like temps will be in the lower 90s.

Sunday:

Same set up as Saturday.  Dry morning, with hot and humid conditions in the afternoon.  A few spotty storms are also possible in the afternoon and evening.  Highs top out in the upper 80s to around 90°

8-day forecast:

The heat rolls on, with a string of 90° on tap for the first half of the week.  We look to be relatively dry Monday through Wednesday, but can’t rule out pop up afternoon storms each of those days.  Slightly better chances for rain and storms move into the area starting Thursday.
