High gas prices, record travel for Fourth of July
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – If you have plans to travel for the Fourth of July, expect a lot of company.
AAA said nearly 47 million Americans will travel this Independence day, setting a holiday travel record.
Unfortunately, gas prices could eat into your budget.
The national average price for a gallon of unleaded is about $2.86. AAA reports that’s about 63 cents higher than a year ago.
Here in central Indiana, we’re paying about $3.04 a gallon.
GasBuddy.com said the price spike is likely to cost drivers about $1 billion in extra gas spending over the usual four-day travel period.
