High school principal in Monticello takes leave after OWI arrest

WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Twin Lakes High School principal has taken a leave of absence after she was arrested over the weekend.

According to White County court documents, 41-year-old Jennifer Miller was arrested Saturday at 11:55 p.m. by White County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew White after a witness made a 911 call of a possible intoxicated driver. Miller was heading east on Ohio Street, just east of Main Street, in Monticello when she got stopped.

In the probable cause affidavit, Deputy White said Miller had slurred speech, red eyes, poor balance and staggered from the vehicle. When a chemical test was performed, paperwork states Miller’s blood alcohol content was .144 – which is almost twice the legal limit.

Miller faces preliminary charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or more.

An initial hearing is set for Sept. 12.

Twin Lakes School Corporation Superintendent Michael Galvin said Miller made the administration and school board aware of her arrest. He said there is no set date for her return.
