Huertas pulled from 500 for ear condition, to be replaced by Vautier

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — IndyCar driver Carlos Huertas will not race in the Indianapolis 500 due to an inner ear condition, according to a Verizon IndyCar Series media release Friday morning.

24-Hour News 8’s Chris Widlic reports Tristan Vautier will take Huertas’ place.

Huertas, a 23-year-old from Colombia, will undergo further evaluation before being allowed to participate in future IndyCar races.

He was scheduled to start on the outside of row six in the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda. The car will now be moved to the last row of the 33-car field.

He was ruled out of the race by IndyCar medical consultant Dr. Terry Trammell.
