I-74 back open after black ice causes traffic mess
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The weather caused more problems on Indianapolis interstates Monday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, around 5:45 a.m. troopers shut down Interstate 74 eastbound near Acton Road because of black ice.
An INDOT camera there showed a numbers of vehicles in the median. According to an ISP dispatcher, there were multiple crashes there because of the slick conditions.
24-Hour News 8 spoke to the driver of a white-pick up truck, one of the vehicles that slid off the interstate. He said he was “blessed to be alive.”
Police reopened I-74 east around 7 a.m.
