AG Curtis Hill denies using Indiana resources to defend sexual contact accusations

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill’s office denies using any official people or money in his defense.

Several women accused Hill of inappropriate sexual contact earlier this year. I-Team 8 requested information about his defense. The response did not give a lot of information but seemed to hammer home they did not use official money defending Hill against assault accusations.

I-Team 8 piggy-backed on a request by the Indiana Democratic Party chairman, John Zody. Zody’s request asked for things related to Hill’s efforts to defend himself against accusations he was inappropriate with a legislator and staffers.

Hill’s office said there were no records of anything we requested, except for the number of staff on the communications team, which is seven.

Zody talked about the public records request and response. “We really just didn’t get an answer and we still don’t have a lot of answers from what did or didn’t happen that night from the attorney general or his staff.”

“We believe those that came forward, so we are still awaiting answers,” Zody said.

Zody reinforced that it is critically important that state money and employees not be used in for the personal defense of an elected official.

“Just a fundamental principle about government is that it should be accountable, it should be transparent,” Zody said. “Taxpayers need to know that their money is going to benefit the taxpayers who pay that money, not to benefit one elected official personally.”

Hill is maintaining his position as attorney general and his stance he never acted inappropriate.

We are waiting on the Inspector General’s investigation into the alleged incidents.
