Ice-skating center grants dying dog’s final wish: a snow mound

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (WISH) — A dying dog’s final wish was granted on Monday when an ice-skating center in Salt Lake City, Utah, crafted a mound of snow for the pup to enjoy.

The snow was gifted to the dog — named Maggie — after Elijah Lee Saltzgaber, Maggie’s owner, posted a plea on Facebook.

“Does anyone have a shaved ice machine they have put away for the season?” the post read. “Our sweet dog is passing of cancer and Monday we want to build her one last snow bank to roll in.”

Salt Lake County Ice Center happily responded to the request, and staff members of Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation delivered the snow to Maggie’s backyard.

“Sending our love and condolences to Maggie’s family,” Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation posted on Facebook. “We appreciate the unique privilege of providing her a little heaven on Earth.”

“Maggie enjoyed her last morning with her two favorite things: snow and her owners,” the ice center posted.
