IMPD: Driver who caused NE side school bus crash wanted on warrant
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis Public School bus crashed Wednesday morning near 38th Street and Arlington Avenue, injuring two people and leading to a man being taken into custody.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. near 38th Street and Arlington Avenue.
A 16-year-old student and two adults were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Firefighters said 14 Shortridge High School students were riding on the bus when it crashed.
A total of six vehicles were involved in the accident. Police say it was caused when a white car rear-ended a pickup truck, pushing the truck into the bus. The bus traveled about 150 feet off the road, crashing into a large shopping plaza sign and three utility vans in a parking lot.
Jeffery Twitty, 45, was driving the white car without a license, police said. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for violation of parole connected to a burglary.
