IMPD: Missing Executive Director of Fall Creek Gardens located, found safe

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the director of Fall Creek Gardens has been found safe.

In a message posted on social media, police announced locating Carina McDowell and thanked the community for their help in the search.

Carina McDowell had been missing since Thursday. Prior to her disappearance, she had been last seen walking to the bus stop around noon Thursday in the Riverside Park area.

During he disappearance, police said she was likely not in danger, and they believed she might have been on the run from family for unknown reasons. Monday morning they sent out a release asking for the public to help them locate Carina McDowell.

McDowell’s husband, Fred, told 24-Hour News 8 they have been happily married for 35 years and she wouldn’t have left on her own.

They have six children together and five grand-kids. Fred said Carina isn’t just dedicated to family, but also to her work as the Executive Director at Fall Creek Gardens on Central Avenue.

He said she dropped him off at work on Thursday morning around 10. He called about a half hour later to make sure she made it back home OK. That was the last time Fred spoke to Carina.
