IMPD officer arrested for stolen guns changes plea

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer accused of stealing guns had a court hearing on Monday.

Police say Christopher Dickerson stole the guns in November, during an investigation at an abandoned home in Indianapolis.

Instead of a jury trial, Dickerson has changed his plea and a new hearing is scheduled for July month.

According to court documents, three handguns and ammunition Dickerson was supposed to take to the IMPD property room never made it. Dickerson told police he threw the guns in a river. Investigators executed a search warrant on Dickerson’s home and discovered he is an avid gun collector. When questioned further by police, Dickerson asked for an attorney.

Dickerson is expected to change his plea to guilty in July.

IMPD said Dickerson was with department for five years.
