IMPD, Overdose Lifeline team to fight heroin use
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is partnering with a community group to fight heroin use.
On Tuesday, Community Resource Officers came together to learn about the dangers of heroin and how to spot and treat a heroin overdose.
They are partnering with Overdose Lifeline.
Tuesday’s program was all about teaching those who will teach high school students about the dangers of heroin.
“You’ve got to give them the risks above. It is life or death with this drug. Unlike others, one dose can kill you and that message has to get across. You can’t experiment with it. Your first time could be your last time. It could kill you,” said Dan O’Donnell, Chief Medical Director for Indianapolis EMS.
In addition to educating high schools about the dangers of heroin, there are also plans to go into the middle schools.
