IMPD releases body cam video after officer shoots woman at north side apartments

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has released video of an officer-involved shooting that happened after a wanted woman pointed a weapon at officers, according to police.

IMPD posted a video showing body-worn camera footage from the evening of Sept. 29 in the 1900 block of Covey Lane.

Officers were tracking 31-year-old Jasmine Brame, wanted on active warrants for armed robbery, domestic battery, intimidation and carrying a handgun without a license with a prior conviction. IMPD says Brame was suspected of shooting into a residence and a vehicle earlier in September.

Brame was believed to be at an apartment complex on the night of the shooting. Officers located her while she was walking. A foot pursuit took place. Officers said Brame tried hiding, then pointed a gun at an officer when he found her.

The officer, a 20-year veteran of the department, fired once at Brame, striking her. The officer was later identified by IMPD as Sgt. Daryl Jones. He was placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Following the shooting, IMPD described Brame’s condition as stable.
