IMPD seizes 20 pounds of meth, $16K in cash and vehicle during search

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A recently carried out search warrant by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department resulted in one arrest and the seizure of drugs and cash.

According to IMPD, on Feb. 27, officers assisted on a Marion County Corrections home visit at a residence in the 2900 block of North Olney Street.

Police say the visit was in relation to a subject, 34-year-old Lamont Dycus, who had several prior drug convictions and conviction of a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.

While attempting to make contact with Dycus, police say he fled but was quickly apprehended. However, officers state that during his attempted escape, Dycus grabbed what is suspected to be a bag of cocaine.

Officers then obtained and executed a search warrant on that residence.

The following items were seized during the search:

  • Over 20 pounds of suspected methamphetamine 
  • Approx. 3/4 kilo of cocaine 
  • Approx. 1/4 kilo of heroin 
  • 1 Glock 30 .45 caliber Handgun
  • Over $16,000 in cash
  • 1 Vehicle
  • Several other items indicia of dealing narcotics

Dycus, as a result of the arrest and search, faces a number of preliminary drug-related charges.
