Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence launches new program to help curb the issue

There’s been a 90% increase in domestic violence homicides since March, so it’s a serious issue. Laura Berry, executive director of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence joined us today to talk about this sometimes difficult topic. Here’s more from her:

This is a trying time for people in an abusive relationship and the pandemic is making it worse. We just launched a new program to help curb the issue, called the Indiana’s Coordinate Entry System..

About Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence: The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a statewide alliance of domestic violence programs, support agencies and concerned individuals. We provide technical assistance, resources and training to those who serve victims of domestic violence; and advocate for social and systems change through public policy, public awareness and education.

Coordinated Entry System: Finding housing help for survivors of domestic or dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, or human trafficking can be complicated. A safe home is possible. There is a way with Indiana’s Coordinated Entry System (CES). By focusing on the person, not the project, CES avoids the maze and frustrating dead ends, creating a way for providers to help survivors find a safe, affordable place to call home.
