Bicknell police chief facing felony charges
KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO) — The Bicknell police chief is facing charges of battery and official misconduct.
Indiana State Police began an investigation Tuesday morning after they were notified by the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office about an incident that occurred at their office involving Bicknell Police Chief Terry Stremming.
Authorities say a Bicknell police officer went to the prosecutor’s office and turned over a laptop that possibly contained evidence of misconduct on another Bicknell police officer.
Authorities say Stremming arrived at the prosecutor’s office and demanded they give him the laptop. Police say Stremming tried to take the laptop off the desk and an investigator from the prosecutor’s office put her hands on the laptop to prevent him from taking it.
That’s when authorities say Stremming put his hands on her and tried to push her away.
Stremming left the office without the laptop.
Indiana State Police arrested Stremming Tuesday night at the Bicknell Town Hall without incident.
He was taken to the Knox County Jail and released after posting bond.
He faces charges of Official Misconduct and Battery, both Level 6 felonies.
