Car hit by gunfire on I-80/94, 3 juveniles hospitalized

GARY, Ind. (WISH) — Three people were hospitalized after a car was struck by gunfire on Interstate 80/94 early Sunday morning.

Indiana State Police say officers responded to a report of a vehicle hit by gunfire around 12:00 a.m. Sunday. They found a Dodge Charger that was hit by gunfire multiple times on westbound I-80/94 near mile marker 6. That is east of Burr Street.

Five people were in the vehicle, according to ISP. Three juveniles had gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals. One was later flown to Chicago to treat life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victims were leaving a party in Gary.
