Court docs: Officer admitted to sending girls inappropriate photos

DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) An officer with the Decatur Police Department was dismissed last Thursday after Indiana State Police began an investigation involving photos sent to two teenaged girls.

On Wednesday, April 15, Detective Bobby Jackson received a complaint alleging that Spencer R. Wilson had sent photos of his genitals via text message and Snapchat to the girls who have only been identified as being at least 16-years-old, but not yet 18-years-old. Detective Jackson interviewed both girls that same day.

According to an affidavit for probable cause filed in Adams Superior Court on Tuesday, the first girl told the detective that Wilson had repeatedly asked her to send him nude pictures of her. She also told the detective that on April 13 Wilson had used his cellphone to send a photo of his genitals to her phone using the Snapchat app.

The court document also included details of the detective’s interview with the second girl who told him that Wilson had been sending text messages asking her to send nude pictures and videos of her to him. She also said Wilson had asked her about having sex with him. The detective was able to review a text conversation on her phone Wilson’s cellphone number. Included in the text messages was a photo of a man’s genitals.

Later the same day the detective Wilson of the allegations and he admitted that he had sent photos of his genitals to both girls.

A warrant was obtained to search Wilson’s phone and the data on it was turned over to the Adams County Prosecutor’s Office.

As a result of Jackson’s investigation, Wilson was charged with 2 Counts of Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, both of which are felonies.

Wilson turned himself into authorities Tuesday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He had been attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at the time of the investigation.

As of Tuesday evening, Wilson was being held on a $4,500.00 surety bond.
