Female juvenile arrested for posting Lafayette school shooting threats

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) – A female juvenile has been arrested after posting school shooting threats on social media, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

Police said that around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, they were made aware of posts on Snapchat, where two accounts made threats of a school shooting.

LPD said the threats indicated that the shooting was to take place on Monday, Nov. 22 at Tecumseh Middle School. The posts also listed a number of juveniles as potential targets, according to police.

Police said the two accounts were linked to an email of a Tecumseh Middle School student. The department said evidence led them to believe that the juvenile did not have access to firearms and did not have intent on carrying out the threats.

The juvenile has been taken into custody and transported to the Tippecanoe County Juvenile Probation center. She faces a preliminary charge of intimidation – a felony.
