Fort Wayne police locate body in river

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) – A body was found in a body of water in Fort Wayne Tuesday morning, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Around 8:45 a.m., officers and other first responders were called to the area of Spy Run Avenue and Lafayette Street for a possible body in the Maumee River.

Crews on the scene used drones, water craft and searched the area on foot.

Police said the body of an adult male was found on the south side of the river, where it had become snarled in underbrush.

The identity of the body and the cause of death is unclear at this point.

The case remains under investigation.
