Fort Wayne puppy found in trash finds a family

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A puppy found in a cage in a trash bin and suffering from “multiple traumas” last month has been adopted.

Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control posted on Facebook Wednesday that Barry, the “cute little blind puppy who was found by a caring garbage collector,” was adopted be a family who “already loves him so much!”

It was March 20 when a garbage truck driver found the puppy in a crate inside a trash bin in the 200 block of East Masterson Avenue. Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control was called in.
A veterinarian examined the puppy and found it had suffered “multiple traumas” in its short life. Barry was found to be blind.

Barry was recovering in a home through the shelter’s foster program up until his adoption this week.

The shelter said Barry was already learning the commands “up” and “down” to help with stairs and working on potty training.

“We’re so thankful for everyone who contributed to his care and helped him along in his journey to find his perfect forever home!,” the shelter posted.
