Indiana getting grants to add pumps with higher ethanol

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Indiana is among 21 states that will receive federal grants to add more service station fuel pumps that can handle gasoline blends with more than 10 percent ethanol.

The amount of the grant hasn’t been announced yet, but the agency said last week that Indiana will be able to add an estimated 110 pumps through the Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership grant.

A typical gas pump delivers fuel with 10 percent ethanol. The USDA estimates the $100 million in total grants will more than double the number of stations that offer E15 fuel levels with 15 percent ethanol and other blends.
