Indiana’s lieutenant governor plans 12-day China trip

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana’s lieutenant governor is planning a 12-day trip to China to promote the state’s agricultural industry.

The office of Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann says she’ll lead a delegation of 18 people from Indiana agri-businesses and the state’s agriculture and rural affairs agencies. The itinerary for the June 22 to July 3 trip includes stops in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities.

Ellspermann says the trip delegation will promote how Indiana’s agriculture industry can serve the growing Chinese market.

Ellspermann’s office says the state delegation’s costs are being paid through private donations.

The lieutenant governor’s trip follows a weeklong trade mission to China by Gov. Mike Pence last month.
