ISP: Woman killed in Ripley County crash

RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A woman was killed in a Ripley County crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police.

Around 1:30 p.m., troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash in the area of US 421 and County Road 925 South in southern Ripley County.

Police said a red 2004 Oldsmobile, driven by 80-year-old Mary Hunt, was headed south on US 421 near County Road 925 South when the vehicle, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line. Hunt’s vehicle went into the path of a northbound 2016 box truck, driven by 34-year-old Ronald Chigumira, which resulted in a head-on collision.

Hunt suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Chigumira sustained minor injuries, was treated and later released.
