LAGRANGE, Ind. (WISH) — An Arizona man injured in a LaGrange County crash on Friday has died, Indiana State Police said Saturday.

ISP says Michael Lohman, 53, of Glendale, Arizona, was driving a semi-tractor westbound on the Interstate 80/90 Toll Road near the 118 mile marker, west of Howe. That is approximately 200 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Lohman didn’t see he was approaching stopped traffic and crashed into an International truck. A second semi-tractor was also hit in the collision.

Police attributed the crash to Lohman being distracted by his phone.

Lohman was flown to Fort Wayne for critical care and died late Friday night while undergoing surgery. His 12-year-old son and the driver of the International truck were transported to Parkview LaGrange Hospital with minor injures, according to police. The 12-year-old has since been released.

Lohman was the only person involved in the crash who was not wearing a seatbelt.
