CHESTERTON, Ind. (WISH) — A man was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 94 Wednesday afternoon and the vehicle’s three passengers were arrested.

Indiana State Police say officers with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department initiated a pursuit of a stolen Infiniti QX60 near mile marker 32 at approximately 12:52 p.m. The SUV struck a police car belonging to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office, causing the driver, 23-year-old John Bolden, of South Holland, Illinois, to lose control and hit the median wall.

The QX60 rolled several times before coming to a rest, according to police.

Bolden was pronounced dead by the Lake County Coroner. The passenger in the front seat, Darius Washington, 21, of South Holland, Illinois, was seriously injured. The back seat passengers, 28-year-old David Washington, of South Holland, Illinois, and Derek Bussell, 28, of Chicago, sustained injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

A Porter County police officer was transported for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police learned during their investigation all four occupants of the SUV had active warrants for various crimes. The three passengers were taken into custody.

The crash remains under investigation.
