LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Lafayette loan center Friday.

Police were called around 11 a.m. to the World Finance Corporation, 2535 Maple Point Drive, located behind the Tippecanoe Mall.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WLFI, Lafayette police say a man wearing all black and covering his face came into World Finance, displayed a handgun and demanded money. Authorities would not disclose how much money the man took, but he got away and headed north on foot.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Lafayette Police Lt. Brian Phillips said they are not sure if this robbery is connected to the one that happened two weeks ago at a nearby Check ‘n Go. He says they are looking into that.

Police do ask you to call them immediately if you were in the area and saw anything suspicious Friday. You can contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200 or use the anonymous WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
