Southwest Indiana fire chief dies following crash

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A fire chief in southwest Indiana has died following a crash Monday afternoon.

It happened around 4 p.m. when Hymera – Jackson Fire Chief Clay Shidler was involved in a crash on CR 900 North, near CR 300 East in Northeast Sullivan County.

Shidler was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital where he later died. 

No other injuries were reported in the crash. 

Shidler is survived by his wife, daughter, two sons and six grandchildren.
