State library getting education center for visitors

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Visitors to the Statehouse and the Indiana State Library are getting an education center next year.

The Indiana Department of Administration announced plans Tuesday for the education center due to open a year from now. It says the center will serve as “an active learning site” for the thousands of visitors to the Statehouse and adjacent library attract each year.

It will allow visitors to take part in role-playing games that demonstrate how government works, discover and explore items from the library’s collections, and cast their votes on issues that resonate with young Hoosiers.

The center will be located on the ground floor of the Indiana State Library in a 1,800 square-foot exhibit hall.
