T-shirts raise cash for Terre Haute to buy police dog named ‘Pitts’

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO) – T-shirts are being sold to raise funds for a new Terre Haute poilce dog that will carry the name “Pitts.”

Top Guns, a gun shop and training academy in Terre Haute, teamed up with SingleInk to create T-shirts supporting law enforcement officers and Officer Robert Pitts.

Officials said Pitts, 45, was fatally wounded May 4 when he and other officers approached suspect Christopher A. Wolfe, 21, who died of a gunshot wound after barricading himself inside an apartment.

Shirts will be sold for $30 with the proceeds going toward the newest member of the Terre Haute Police Department.

“It’s nice as a community for us to be able to try and give back just a little bit, and again, it’s a small token, but it is at least something we can do to bring Officer Pitts’ name back into the department for at least serval years to come we hope,” Top Guns owner Steve Ellis said.

Ellis said nearly 500 T-shirts need to be sold in order to purchase the police dog. You can buy the T-shirt at Top Guns or online here.
