Indianapolis man charged in robbery of 2 Lawrence banks

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – A 42-year-old Indianapolis man faces criminal charges after two banks were robbed in recent weeks, Lawrence Police Department said Thursday.

James Mason is preliminarily charged with robbery of the Chase Bank, 4202 N. Franklin Road, on Nov. 29 and the Fifth Third Bank, 9025 E. 56th St., on Dec. 22.

“In both robberies, the suspect entered the bank branch, verbally indicated threats, demanding cash. No weapon was displayed during either robbery,” said a news release from Lawrence police.

The FBI Violent Crimes Task Force helped Lawrence police investigators to make the arrest.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine the formal charges to be filed.

The release said Mason has several previous felony convictions dating back to the mid-1990s.

Mason was listed as an inmate in the Marion County Jail on Thursday.
