SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — News 8 has learned more about the upgrades coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

IMS President Doug Boles spoke at the Speedway State of the Town on Tuesday evening. He talked about the plans that he and new owner Roger Penske have for this year’s running of the Indianapolis 500.

He says Penske is dedicated to improving the Brickyard 400, as well, after it has seen a decline in popularity in recent years.

“If you’ve been in and around the speedway, been around Georgetown Road, you’ve seen some of the things that are already happening. That really is because Roger is determined to make a difference leading into the 104th Indianapolis 500,” Boles said.

Boles says Penske will be talking in more detail about his plans for IMS at the 100-day-out party on Feb. 14.
