Indianapolis Zoo kicks off xZOOberance to celebrate spring

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Spring is here and the Indianapolis Zoo wants you to celebrate the season with animals and zoo staff.

The Indianapolis Zoo’s xZOOberance will feature activities and events aimed at shaking off winter’s chill.

The new festival begins on March 21 and continues until April 7 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.

The Bicentennial Pavilion will be adorned with more than 15,000 flowers and plants along with animal-shaped topiaries, oversized pinwheels and kites. Kids can enjoy animal-inspired yoga and a sculpture scavenger hunt.

Music headliner Hiss Golden Messenger performs on main stage at 6 p.m. March 30, with the Jai Baker 3 opening at 5 p.m. The zoo will stay open late for that evening. Also, the festival main stage will host local acts like Dance Kaleidoscope, Dumpster Drummers, Cathy Morris and more.

Access to xZOOberance is included with general admission to the Indianapolis Zoo. Regular hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and xZOOberance activities take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
