Indy man brings love of soccer to underprivileged kids

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis man is taking his love for soccer, and using it to connect the world

Mark Spiegel founded the non-profit Make Your Own Ball Day.

On Tuesday the organization is going on a twelve day road trip to five U.S. cities, ultimately ending in Mexico.

In each of the cities, kids will make their own soccer ball and donate a ball. They have hopes of collecting 1,000 soccer balls for underprivileged kids in Tijuana.

“We want to connect the kids in the states with the kids all over the world with a common language which is soccer which is cool,” said Mark Spiegel

The group is making stops in Lee’s Summit, MO, Salina, KS, Colorado Springs, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Orange County CA, and Tijuana, Mexico.
