Agencies collaborate to help college students find work

CARMEL and FISHERS Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Hamilton County college students looking for work can get some help from an initiative formed by two agencies. The Chamber of Commerce for Fishers and Carmel, OneZone, and Ascend Indiana, the workforce initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, have teamed together to help jobseekers and employers.

OneZone is offering employer members a chance to join the Ascend Network, which is a software platform and group of recruiters that work to connect students and recent graduates to Indiana jobs and internships.

“Hamilton County remains a great place to work, and as employers prepare for the impending workforce recovery, we want to make sure they have all the tools necessary to meet their employment needs, and that includes having available early-in-career talent. Our member, Ascend Indiana, is helping us to do that,” said Jack Russell, interim president, OneZone.

OneZone members can enter information into a form on the OneZone website that allows employers to begin the process of sharing jobs and internships.

“While employers and students are facing unprecedented challenges, the Ascend Network is a unique approach to aligning talent with opportunities in the region, now and in the future,” said Jason Kloth, president and CEO, Ascend Indiana. “Students from 27 Indiana higher education institutions have joined the Network, and they have submitted 13,000 applications to employers for open positions.”

The agencies hope to register at least 25 more employer members by the end of the year.
