INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based Sport Graphics is helping the push to bring residents back to downtown Indy to support local businesses. The company is applying a massive vinyl graphic featuring the logo for the “Back Downtown” campaign to the JW Marriott hotel.
The 10,000-square-foot graphic is the smallest Sport Graphics has done on the hotel, but Chief Executive Officer Frank Hancock says it “maybe has the most important message.”
“Conventions will return along with athletic events in time – but right now with seven out of 10 daily workers not coming back to their offices, downtown is dying. We cannot let that happen, so I am putting up a reminder of what needs to happen.”
Downtown Indy Inc. in August launched the “Back Downtown” initiative. The marketing and social media campaign included the installation of various forms of signage throughout downtown Indy.
When the initiative was announced, officials said the goal was to inspire residents to “patronize Downtown businesses and reinvigorate Downtown pride.”
Sport Graphics has previously applied larger graphics to the JW Marriott to promote major events such as the Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four and the Indy 500.
