EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Evansville-based Berry Global Group Inc. (NYSE: BERY) is collaborating with The Medicom Group in the United Kingdom to design and supply nonwoven fabric for face masks annually as a part of Medicom’s agreement with the British Government. Berry says it is investing in a new meltblown nonwovens line at one of its UK-based facilities to increase capacity of material needed for production of European-standard masks.

Berry says the masks will be manufactured and sold under Medicom’s European Kolmi brand.

“Berry has deep roots in the UK. We are pleased to support Medicom as they open their new facility and help advance safety and protection in the region well beyond the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Curt Begle, president of Berry’s Health, Hygiene, and Specialties Division.

Medicom, which manufactures medical and respiratory masks, is set to open its new UK-based production facility later this summer. Berry says the British Government has enabled the investments through a long-term contractual commitment.

In May, IIB reported Berry’s investment in meltblown capacity in South America.
