Bosma Enterprises relaunches training program

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based Bosma Enterprises has relaunched its Student Training and Employment Program after a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lilly Endowment Inc. and the city of Indianapolis’ Summer Youth Program Fund are helping to financially support the program.

Through the program, the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired partners with Bosma to help blind or visually impaired high school students to search for a career path and learn skills.

Bosma says the free-to-students program offers classroom learning, hands-on training and recreational activities, and with the help from two grants, students can participate in job readiness training and paid summer internships.

“Helping these students build beneficial skills is the first step toward gaining viable employment, which can often be a challenge for a population facing a national unemployment rate of 70%. STEP equips these students with the knowledge and skills they need to move into the workforce,” said James Michaels, Bosma vice president of programs services.
