Clabber Girl cafe, museum closing

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The Clabber Girl Bake Shop Cafe and Clabber Girl Museum in downtown Terre Haute will close later this week. On the cafe’s Facebook page, owners thanked its customers and employees for their support over the last 18 years, but reiterated the Clabber Girl manufacturing facility will remain in operation.

Officials did not provide a specific reason for closing the cafe and museum. The bake shop has been providing curbside service since the beginning of the pandemic and says that service will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

The cafe and museum are located inside the historic Hulman & Co. building, which was sold last year to Terre Haute businessman Greg Gibson. At the time, Gibson said he would work with the Hulman family to determine the future of the museum.

In May 2019, Hulman & Co. announced it had sold Clabber Girl Corp. to New Jersey-based B&G Foods Inc. (NYSE: BGS). Then-Chief Executive Officer Mark Miles said the decision was made to allow the company to full focus on INDYCAR, before it was sold to Penske Entertainment Corp. later that year.
